Accessibility Statement

Bloomin' Lovely Flower Farm – Accessibility Statement (UK)

Bloomin' Lovely Flower Farm is committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming environment for all visitors and customers, in line with our obligations under the Equality Act 2010, which requires UK service providers to make reasonable adjustments so disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage. We aim to ensure that as many people as possible can access our physical site, events and digital information, and we review this regularly as our business develops.

Visiting the farm

  • Bloomin' Lovely Flower Farm is a working flower farm located in a rural setting. This means that some paths and areas are uneven, unpaved or weather‑dependent, which may limit access for some wheelchair users, people with mobility impairments or those using walking aids.

  • Where reasonably practicable, we will: provide clear signage to step‑free or step‑reduced routes, offer resting points such as benches or seating areas, and support visitors to avoid steep or uneven areas if these present a risk.

  • If you let us know your access needs in advance, we will do our best to make reasonable adjustments, for example by suggesting the most suitable parking and entrance, arranging closer drop‑off, or planning a route that minimises uneven ground.

Parking and arrival

  • We will identify and signpost the most suitable parking area for visitors with access needs, as close as reasonably possible to the main entrance or meeting point.

  • If advance notice is given, we will reserve a space where possible or provide information on alternative nearby parking options

Paths, seats and facilities
  • Paths and tracks around the farm may include grass, gravel or soil, and conditions can change with the weather; we will make visitors aware of this in our pre‑visit information and on signage where appropriate.

  • We aim to provide seating or resting points along commonly used visitor routes, subject to the layout and safety of the working farm environment.

  • Toilet provision (for example, any on‑site or portable toilets) may have space and step limitations; where accessible toilets are not available on‑site, we will provide information about the nearest accessible public facilities.

Events, tours and activities
  • For farm tours, workshops and events, we will:

    • use clear, plain language when giving spoken information

    • provide key information in writing where possible

    • adjust the pace of tours to allow rest and questions, where this is compatible with farm operations and safety.

  • We will make reasonable efforts to adapt activities (for example, seated options for picking or arranging flowers) where this does not compromise safety or fundamentally change the nature of the activity.

Dogs, assistance dogs and support
  • We welcome dogs and assistance dogs that are trained to support disabled people, subject to farm safety and biosecurity requirements (for example, keeping dogs on leads and away from growing areas where needed).

  • Staff will be offered basic awareness training to help them respond respectfully and helpfully to disabled visitors, including those with non‑visible disabilities

Information and communication

We aim to make our website and online content as accessible as reasonably possible, following recognised best practice such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) principles of being perceivable, operable, understandable and robust.

On request, we will provide key information (such as directions, event details or safety information) in an alternative format where reasonably practicable, for example larger print or an email version that can be used with screen‑reading or magnification software.

Reasonable adjustments

Even though we are a small private business and not a public‑sector body, we recognise our duty under the Equality Act 2010 to consider and provide reasonable adjustments for disabled visitors and customers. Reasonable adjustments might include:

  • allowing a companion to accompany a disabled visitor

  • adapting the route or format of an activity

  • offering extra time or support for communication and wayfinding

  • providing information in an alternative format where possible.

Where a requested adjustment is not possible (for example, due to safety regulations, farm operations, planning constraints or disproportionate cost), we will explain why and explore any alternative options we can offer

What we are doing to improve?

We recognise that accessibility is an ongoing process rather than a one‑off task. Over time, and as resources allow, we aim to:

  • review and improve paths and surfaces most used by visitors

  • improve signage and pre‑visit information about access

  • seek feedback from visitors with lived experience of disability to inform future improvements.

We welcome feedback on the accessibility of Bloomin' Lovely Flower Farm so we can continue to make improvements.
